Peter Smythe Transport Training LTD

Peter Smythe Transport Training Ltd can trace its roots back to 1947! Originating as Forest Driving School, it was the second car driving school operator in the Mansfield area.

During the 1970’s, Forest diversified to include PSV (bus) driver training. At this same time, Peter Smythe was learning his skills in the coaching and haulage industries. In 1984 the school was purchased by Peter Smythe. The situation quickly developed with a truck joining the bus almost immediately after and by the late 80’s became a major voice in the transport training industry.

In the nineties a large motorcycle school was added; in 2004 this was sold to the Senior Motorcycle Instructor who is still trading as Bikeskool and can be contacted on 01623 556419.

Christmas 2007 we moved to our brand new training centre in Mansfield Woodhouse. This centre was the very first in the UK to be accredited as a DVSA driving test centre.

Sept 2015 we re-located to Stanton Hill, Sutton in Ashfield and developed a purpose built training facility with two reversing areas, modern offices and reception. This centre was immediately stamped with DVSA accreditation making it the only DVSA accredited training centre between Luton and Carlisle!! The DVSA Accreditation Scheme ended 31st December 2016 but we are now accredited by NVDIR.

Our modern offices are open from 07:30–17:30 Monday to Friday and we’re always happy to help. Visits are welcome – no appointment needed. Always someone delighted to show you around.
